Rental Guide
We take safety seriously. Follow this guide to make sure you and your friends have a fun & safe time.

Age Requirement

All boat renters must be at least 21 years old. If you are hiring a captain to drive the boat for you, the minimum renter age is 18 years old. Even if you have a boat license or a boat safety certificate, you must be at least 21 years old to rent from us.

License Requirements
​
To rent a boat without hiring a captain you must have a boat license or a boat safety certificate. This is the law in NJ & NY and a requirement for riding on the Hudson River and other NYC Waterways. You may have rented a boat without a license in the past, but certainly not on the Hudson River. For those without a license, there are two simple options: A) Hire a Captain for a low hourly fee. B) Get a boat safety certificate from the wide range of classes offered regionally every week. Click here for more info.​

Boat Safety Certificate
​
The NJ State Police and the NYPD Harbor Unit requires all persons who drive a boat or jet ski on the Hudson River to have a Boat Safety Certificate. It is very easy to acquire one and requires 8 hours of class time with a simple exam. Search for a class in your area or click here for a list for courses. There are classes every single week in the NYC Metro Area and most are in the evenings. This certificate will allow you to rent a boat or jet ski from us or captain your own boat.

Safety Requirements
All renters must be able to comprehend the safety regulations that are reviewed before you get on the boat. Every boat is equipped with a USCG Safety Kit and you will be taught how to use it. Every person on board must wear a provided life jacket. There is absolutely no alcohol permitted aboard any of our boats or jet skis. If you show up to rent a boat and you do not appear to be competent enough to properly and safely drive the boat, you will be turned away. We have the right to refuse rental to any person for any reason. These are expensive vessels and we will not take a risk renting them to the wrong person.​

Rates & Fees
​
The rates for each boat are clearly marked on this website. The rates are valid for the 2018 season. Every rental must be returned to the dock before the due back time. Late Fees will be charged if you do not return the vessel on time. Late Fees vary by boat and will be clearly marked on your rental agreement. Additional charges are NJ State Tax (6.6%) and Gas when applicable.

Fuel
​
Boats need to be fueled just like cars. However, it is not so easy to find a gas station on the water. Fueling fees will be added to the rental when it is returned. Charters and Tours include FREE GAS. Regular boat rentals DO NOT include free gas. Once you return the boat to the dock, we will calculate the amount of fuel used and charge you per gallon based on the current fuel cost. Please note: Marina Fuel is more expensive than your local highway gas station. All fees and surcharges will be clearly indicated on your rental agreement.

Cancellation Policy
​
A credit card is required to guarantee all reservations. An authorization for the full amount of the rental will be taken at time of reservation. If you cancel more than 7 days from your reservation, you will not be charged anything. If you cancel within 7 days of your reservation, you will lose 50% of the rental amount. If you cancel within 24 hours of your reservation, you will lose the full amount of your rental. Please note that boat rental is a fun and seasonal recreational activity that people plan for in advance. Please be respectful to others who would like to rent a boat and do not wait until the last minute to cancel.
